A costly first win The Web rode their luck, and the Zoggers' fists, to earn their first win of the HBL Season 2.
Receiving in the first half, and threatening to take an early Touchdown, a failed dodge saw the ball go out, and be kicked into the Zogger's end zone. The Zoggers' defence managed to take out the offensive players, the an Apothecary managing to save debutant Blitzer Er'drot, who will still miss his next game.
The Zoggers regained the ball, but only briefly, with Nirorgh finally getting through to score and take a 1-nil lead into the second half.
But the Zoggers continued to pummel the elves - the smelling salts were kept busy trying to revive unconscious elves, but not enough to save original Blitzer Teken'tlar, killed by Rork White.
The second half saw the appearance of the Kraken and a heavily swaying deck slowing down all players. Losing their remaining Blitzer to Da'Slay, by the time Kilviir crossed for the second touchdown they were down to 7 fit elves.
Badly depleted, they could do nothing to stop Running Grot score for the Zoggers, A short kick in and scramble on the scrimage line saw the Zoggers get the ball, but a desperate blitz by Witch Else Melneld saw the ball losein the middle of the pitch as time ran out.
The rebuild begins as the Web consider replacements for their lost players, but at least they are on the board. |
